Why is Some Pain Killer Like Darvocet Pulled From Market?

When you’re pregnant, be careful in taking the drug. New research shows that women taking a mild analgesicduring pregnancy or who take painkillers during the second trimester of pregnancy, childbirth risk boys with the condition of sterilized testes (cryptorchidism).
These conditions make a bad semen quality and testicular cancer risk becomes greater. The team of researchers from Denmark, Finland and France found that women taking paracetamol and ibuprofen, quite a lot during pregnancy, seven times greater risk of giving birth boy with cryptorchidism, compared with women who are not taking the drug altogether.
Second trimester of pregnancy is when the most sensitive. The use of analgesic drugs should be avoided at this time to reduce the risk of cryptorchidism.
As quoted by the Times of India, Ulla Hass from the Technical University of Denmark and Bernard Jegou from INSERM (Institut National de la Sante de la Recherche Medicale at) found that analgesics inhibit androgen production.
The effect of inhibition of androgen production is a shortage of testosterone in males during the early critical period of pregnancy when a man vital organs begin to form. Researchers also found a mild analgesic drug category could reduce testosterone levels by 50 percent.
