As we reported a couple days ago, many people have been changing their Facebook profile picture to a Cartoon character to raise awareness for child abuse.
Some critics of the popular show of support are referring to the practice as "slacktivism", meaning that people are basically lazy and only support or like things where there is no sort of "real" action required. Similar to the "Like" function on facebook, which allows people to "support" a cause without having to truly get involved or physically do anything.
The question on some people's minds is whether or not these acts truly inspire awareness to the cause.
We think it is pretty cool regardless and its obviously created attention throughout the internet, which is a good thing. Users are choosing many cartoon characters from the 80's and obscure facebook cartoon characters from GI JOE to Disney
